Higher education cannot be neglected – it is the youth of today who will make up the next generation of leaders who will take responsibility for rebuilding their home countries in the future. They must have access to the right educational tools, knowledge and relevant skills to be successful.
Al Fakhoora’s programmes work to ensure the right to higher education for youth in conflict-affected regions. These programmes provide a Higher Education Scholarship model that brings together all moving pieces and facets of their academic journey at this level.
Our goal is to empower a new generation of young, educated, civic-minded, positive agents of change, who lead by example in building strong family units, prosperous societies, and tight-knit communities.
What We Do
Al Fakhoora has over a decade of experience working with a network of 7,000 young people from conflict-affected regions. Under our unique Higher Education Scholarship model, we:
- Reach out to the most vulnerable communities, including refugees, IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons), and youth in need of financial assistance
- Engage young talents who are civic-minded and have the potential to bring about positive change in their communities
- Tailor our interventions to local and regional contexts and needs
- Partner with exemplary higher education institutions and collaborate with local governments in order to support their national priorities
Way Forward
In scaling the scope and reach of our programmes, we continue to strengthen our network of partner institutions that are leading by example in our eight-plus countries of operation.
Our target is to enrol 4,000 deserving young people in university or accredited vocational programmes across the globe by the year 2027.
In the first phase of this expansion, Al Fakhoora is committed to providing higher education to 1,539 youth through our unique scholarship programme and in partnership with three educational institutions.
