Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Building Youth Capacity for a Sustainable Future

Our Objective

ROTA empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to take action to address the issue of climate change. Our experience has shown that putting newly acquired knowledge and skills into practice is the most transformative aspect of Education for Climate Action. We believe that linking education to actionable impact in climate action, cements young people’s belief that what they do today can make a real difference in their world tomorrow.

Our Impact

Since our inception, ROTA has worked to foster global citizenship among marginalized youth and to build their capacity to contribute to a sustainable future. Over the past 15 years:

•    ROTA has implemented 66 projects in 21 countries.
•    Our projects have reached more than 2 million children and youth.
•    We have also engaged more than 5,000 volunteers, trained 17,000 teachers, and constructed/rehabilitated 336 schools.

Our Way Forward

ROTA’s recently launched Education for Climate Action initiative supports the integration of Climate Change Education in secondary schools; and, capacity building for refugee and community-based youth in Green Skills for Climate Action. Under this initiative, ROTA works with partners to engage youth to lead and deliver tangible actions that contribute towards mitigation and adaptation of climate change effects facing their communities in areas such as Regenerative Agriculture, Forestation, Clean and Renewable Energy, Water Conservation, Waste Management and Recycling.

ROTA aims to support the most climate vulnerable youth to develop their capacities and mobilize to contribute to greener, more resilient and sustainable communities.
